About California's Prop 65

There’s a good chance you’ve seen the alarming Proposition 65 label, “WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.“ But do you know why this label is on everything from restaurants, to jewelry, to automobiles, and even furniture?

Proposition 65 became California law in 1986 with the intent of protecting drinking water sources. However, since 1986 the law has grown to include over 800 substances, some of them everyday materials such as Brass and PVC. This law only applies to the state of California, but since we cannot guarantee where our items will be sold, we must include this warning label on all of our products.

Furniture of America is committed to the safety of our members, partners, and customers. We do everything possible to prevent harmful chemicals from coming into contact with you and your family. We comply to the law and include Proposition 65 warnings on all of our products. Furniture of America thanks you for your trust in our products and will continue to produce safe, clean, and quality items for you and your family to enjoy.
